There are four booking sites I have chosen to analyze which are Tripadvisor, Trivago, Booking. com and Wotif. com. These sites all provide information about hotels to help customers understand and book for travel purposes. Tripadvisor is an American company and it is almost the largest hotel booking site in the world. Trivago is a German search engine that emphasizes on assisting customers with hotel and travel. Another useful travel website is Booking.com, a company based in Amsterdam Netherlands, where it targets booking available accommodation online. Finally, Wotif. com is also an effective resource in searching for top quality hotel services.
Tripadvisor. com
Tripadvisor is a site that offers hotel booking, flights, holiday rentals and restaurant services. It offers service to customers in selecting hotel name and dates on the home page, which allows easy access for customers to identify a suitable hotel . According to Alexa (2015), Tripadvisor has the 168th global rank and the 56th rank in America. There are many customers to browse this site in different countries, for example the United States and Thailand which takes up 54.7 percent of visitors and 2.5 percent of visitors. Among the visitors, females users are more common than males on average. As a result, this company could target the group of males as a potential market. Therefore, it is indicated the company has a great influence and strength.
Trivago. com
Trivago.com ranked 3086th in the world and 969th in America, which shows a growing potential for its future. There are many visitors distributed in different countries such as United States, Germany and Saudi Arabia. In addition, their percents of visitors are 64.6, 2.7 and 2.5 respectively(Alexa, 2015). This site is focusing on hotels which support the comparison of the prices from over 730700 hotels and more than 200 booking sites such as Expedia and Jovago. This subject can assist customers in considering about the cost performance of hotels and decision making. According to the data of MintGlobal, there are more operating revenues between the 2011(64,685) and 2012(131,522). The data states the company has fast spread of development.
Booking. com
According to Alexa (2015), Booking. com has the 81th global rank and 17th rank in Italy. It has many visitors from Italy, United States, Spain and other countries. And they have different percent of visitors such as Italy(8.6), United States(7.0) and Spain(6.6). The website has been available for online use since 1996, which shows customers trust and believe the site holds value, leading to its longevity within the online industry. For the convenience of customers, the site home page offers one of its most useful tool which the ‘Find the Best Deals’, Thus, this site will give suitable room for following the customer’s different demands. Booking.com can focus on the different age group to provide different tourist routes as possible target market.
Wotif. com
Wotifi. com has ranked the 19066th in the world and the 318th in Australia. The site has many visitors by different countries like Australia, India and United States. The Australia takes up a large percent of visitors which is 78.8 percent. The India and America account for 3.3 percent and 2.0 percent respectively(Alexa, 2015). The site is built in Australia and established many offices in different countries such as Canada, Malaysia and Singapore. It is not only offering the hotels booking, but also the flight and car hire service. This website could target the car make model when customers want to take self-driving travel as a potential market. If a family want to have a travel which has many members, they will prefer a car that can carry all of members.
